1. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They are used to make websites work correctly, remember your preferences, and provide information to website operators about how visitors use their site.
Similar technologies — including pixels, local storage objects, and session storage — work in a comparable way and are referred to collectively as "cookies" throughout this Policy.
This Cookie Policy applies solely to stoodio.io, the Stoodio institutional website and platform. If you are visiting an artist's website powered by Stoodio (e.g. artistname.stoodio.io), see Section 3.5: artist websites currently set no advertising or analytics cookies through Stoodio.
2. Legal Framework
Our use of cookies on stoodio.io is governed by the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (UK PECR) and, in respect of personal data processed through cookies, by the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
For visitors accessing stoodio.io from the European Economic Area, the EU ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC) as implemented in the relevant member state also applies.
Under these laws, we are required to obtain your consent before placing any cookies on your device that are not strictly necessary for the website to function. We seek your consent via the cookie banner displayed when you first visit stoodio.io.
3. Categories of Cookies We Use
3.1 Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are essential for stoodio.io to operate and cannot be switched off. They are set in response to actions you take, such as logging in to your artist account, setting your privacy preferences, or filling in a form. They do not require your consent and do not store personally identifiable information beyond what is strictly required.
3.2 Analytics and performance cookies
These cookies collect information about how visitors use stoodio.io — for example, which pages are visited most often, how long visitors spend on each page, and how visitors arrived at the site.
No analytics cookies are currently set. The Analytics category appears in the consent banner so that your choice is already recorded if such cookies are introduced; the table in Section 4 will be updated first.
Separately, stoodio.io uses Vercel Speed Insights to measure page performance (Core Web Vitals). It sets no cookies, uses no local storage, and assigns no persistent visitor identifier, which is why it operates without a consent toggle; the data it collects is described in the Privacy Policy (DOC 7, Section 2.2).

- You may withdraw consent at any time via the cookie settings link in the footer of stoodio.io.
3.3 Functional cookies
These cookies allow stoodio.io to remember choices you make and provide enhanced features. For example, they remember your language preference or whether you have previously dismissed a notification. They may be set by us or by third-party providers whose services are embedded in stoodio.io.

3.4 Marketing cookies
Where Stoodio runs paid marketing campaigns (via Meta Ads and Google Ads), marketing cookies measure the effectiveness of those campaigns and attribute sign-ups and paid upgrades. These cookies are operated by Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd and Google Ireland Ltd, who act as independent data controllers.
No marketing tag is loaded, and no marketing cookie is set, before you give your explicit consent via the cookie banner. If you decline, the tags never load. If you withdraw consent, the tags are blocked again and the cookies listed in Section 4 are deleted from stoodio.io. Marketing cookies are used only on stoodio.io, never on artist websites.

- You may opt out of interest-based advertising at any time via your browser settings or via the relevant third-party provider's opt-out tools.
3.5 A note on artist websites
Artist websites powered by Stoodio (e.g. artistname.stoodio.io, or an artist's own domain) currently set no analytics or marketing cookies through Stoodio. The only items placed there are strictly necessary ones, and the cookie-free Vercel Speed Insights performance measurement described in Section 3.2. If artist-facing analytics are introduced, a dedicated Cookie Policy will be published on artist websites first, and that policy — not this one — will govern them. Stoodio's processing of data collected on artist websites (such as contact form submissions) is described in the Stoodio Privacy Policy, Section 9.

5. How We Obtain and Manage Your Consent
When you first visit stoodio.io, a cookie consent banner is displayed with three choices of equal prominence:
- Accept all — allows the Analytics and Marketing categories.
- Only necessary — allows nothing beyond strictly necessary items.
- Customise — lets you switch the Analytics and Marketing categories on or off individually and save your choices.
No non-essential cookie is set before you choose. Your preferences are stored in the stoodio_cookie_consent cookie for 6 months and applied on all subsequent visits; when the cookie expires, the banner is shown again. You may change your preferences at any time by clicking the "Cookie settings" link in the footer of stoodio.io.
Consent is entirely voluntary. Refusing non-essential cookies will not prevent you from accessing stoodio.io or its public content.

6.2 Via your browser

7. Personal Data Processed via Cookies
Some cookies set on stoodio.io process personal data, including IP addresses, device identifiers, and browsing behaviour. For full details of how this data is collected, used, retained, shared, and protected, please refer to our Privacy Policy at stoodio.io/privacy (DOC 7).
If analytics cookies are introduced in the future, data collected through them could be combined with analytics data from artist websites and used to develop market intelligence shared with Art Sector Partners, as described in Section 3.3 of the Privacy Policy. Any such cookies would require your prior consent under UK PECR, and this Policy and the consent banner would be updated first.
Cookies used on stoodio.io are never used to train generative AI that produces visual work, to replicate any artist's style, or to create datasets for any purpose other than those described in this Policy and the Privacy Policy.
8. Changes to This Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. The current version will always be available at stoodio.io/cookies. Where we introduce new categories of cookie or materially change how we use existing cookies, we will display a new consent banner to seek your updated preferences.

10. Terms Used in This Policy
This Policy uses three terms defined in full in the Stoodio Terms and Conditions at stoodio.io/legal/terms
- "Art Sector Partners" means galleries, museums, auction houses, art fairs, collectors, advisors, art-technology platforms, and other professional operators active in the primary and secondary art markets.
- "Generative Visual AI" means any artificial intelligence or machine learning model, system, or service that synthesises new visual images, artworks, or other visual creative content as an output.
- "Assistive AI" means any artificial intelligence or machine learning model, system, or service used by Stoodio that is not Generative Visual AI, including analytical, statistical, classification, ranking, matching, language, translation, and text-generation models.
